RONAN – A Ronan family is asking for help locating five unbranded horses they believe were stolen from a fenced area south of Ronan.
Victoria and Kevin Templer say they took a dozen horses to leased land on the Cheff Guest Ranch on Sept. 19. When they returned from a hunting trip on Sept. 30, they could only find seven of the horses.
The Templers waited several days, put out some hay and eventually searched the entire property. The horses were gone, no gates were open and the fence was intact.
Victoria Templer says they’ve never branded their horses because they didn’t want to hurt them. State brand inspectors told her that may make it more difficult to prove the horses are theirs if they are found.
