Coyle, Perez Honored by Big Sky

HELENA — Football players from Montana and Montana State are among those honored by the Big Sky Conference this week.

Montana linebacker Brock Coyle received defensive honors while Montana State punter Rory Perez earned special teams honors.

Coyle, a senior from Bozeman, had 15 tackles and the game-clinching interception in overtime as Montana rallied for a 21-14 win over Cal Poly. The Grizzlies held Cal Poly scoreless in the second half and overtime.

Perez, a senior from Moreno Valley, Calif., averaged 52 yards per punt in MSU’s 34-16 win over Weber State. His five punts included a career-long 68-yarder, while two pinned WSU inside the 10 yard line.

Northern Arizona running back Zach Bauman, a senior from Chandler, Ariz., received offensive honors from the Big Sky and national honors from The Sports Network. He rushed for 266 yards and two touchdowns and had 58 yards receiving and another score in NAU’s 39-30 win over Idaho State.
