By Beacon Staff

A 46-year-old Kalispell man involved in a U.S. Highway 93 crash that left two dead on Oct. 17 was arrested on Friday on suspicion of negligent homicide.

Joseph Powell was arrested after he left the hospital on Oct. 18, where he was being treated for a broken arm and a dislocated hip.

Authorities say that Powell was driving a Jeep northbound on Highway 93 when he crossed into the southbound lane, hitting a pick-up truck head on. The driver of the truck, identified by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office as 43-year-old Brian Delaney of Kalispell, died at the scene.

Powell’s 43-year-old passenger, identified Monday morning as Patrick Moulton of Kalispell, died at the hospital in Kalispell.

Powell could be officially charged on Monday, depending on the Flathead County Attorney’s Office.
