Whitefish Girls Edge Livingston in Playoff Opener

Anna Peterson scored the deciding goal in the Whitefish girls’ 1-0 victory over Livingston in the opening round of the Class A state soccer playoffs at Smith Fields on Saturday.

Jess Baldonado assisted Peterson on the goal, which came in the 36th minute. Goalie Piper Greenwood held the shutout for the Lady Bulldogs (11-2 overall).

Whitefish advanced to the state semifinals against Frenchtown (8-4-1), which edged Laurel 6-5 in its opener. Whitefish will host Frenchtown at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Hamilton defeated Columbia Falls 3-0 and Billings Central blanked Polson 5-0 in the other state playoff matches.
