Volleyball Teams Drop Quarterfinal Matches at State Tournaments

After winning opening round matches at the Class AA state volleyball tournament, Glacier and Flathead dropped to the consolation bracket after separate losses on Thursday in Bozeman.

Billings Skyview defeated Glacier 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 in the quarterfinals on Thursday night. Billings Senior defeated Flathead 25-22, 14-25, 25-14, 25-17 afterward. The Billings teams advanced to today’s semifinals against each other at 6 p.m.

Flathead plays the winner of Great Falls and Helena at 2 p.m. today. Glacier plays the winner of Missoula Sentinel and Bozeman at 4 p.m.

If both Glacier and Flathead win, the two teams would play each other at 8 p.m. tonight in loser-out action.

The AA tournament is a true double elimination tournament.

In the state opener yesterday, Glacier beat Great Falls 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21. Flathead won over Bozeman, 20-25, 25-19, 27-29, 25-23, 15-8.

In the Class A tournament, Columbia Falls won its opening match but fell to Lewistown, 25-20, 25-21, 25-14. The Wildkats play the winner of Belgrade and Frenchtown today at 4 p.m.

Columbia Falls defeated Miles City in the opener, 25-9, 25-18, 25-15.
