Glacier Rolls into Football State Championship Game

By Beacon Staff

Glacier is going to Bozeman to battle for the football state championship.

After two consecutive seasons that fell short in the semifinals, the Wolfpack rolled past Great Falls C.M. Russell 52-7 in the semifinal round of the Class AA state playoffs on Friday night at Legends Stadium, advancing to the championship game for the first time in program history and the first time for a Kalispell school since 2000.

The No. 2 seed Wolfpack (11-1), riding a nine-game win streak, will play at top-seeded Bozeman (12-0) on Friday, Nov. 22. The Hawks defeated Billings Skyview 56-26 in the other semifinal game on Friday.

Glacier is attempting to become the first Kalispell team to earn a state title since 1970, when the Flathead Braves finished the regular season 9-0-1 and won the de facto championship. The previous championship team from Kalispell was in 1959, when the Braves beat Butte 39-0 in the title game.

Bozeman edged Glacier 27-12 in the third week of the regular season this fall.
