Missoula Democrat Announces Another House Run

By Beacon Staff

HELENA — Democrat Melinda Gopher of Missoula says she will make another run at the U.S. House.

The writer and Native American activist finished in third place in a Democratic primary for the seat in 2010 after raising little money for the race.

Democrat John Lewis of Helena has already put together a campaign for the seat. He is a former top aide to U.S. Sen. Max Baucus.

Gopher told Lee Newspapers of Montana that she dislikes the federal health care law, and would prefer a government-run single-payer system.

She also said clean energy and climate change legislation will be top priorities.
