Explosives Stolen Near Red Lodge Recovered

By Beacon Staff

RED LODGE — Federal agents have announced that 559 pounds of explosives taken from a U.S. Forest Service storage facility near Red Lodge this spring have been recovered.

Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Agent Ken Bray of Billings told the Carbon County News on Tuesday that all of the missing explosives have been recovered.

The ATF declined to say where or when the explosives were found, but Bray said Wednesday that no arrests have been made.

The ATF had offered a $5,000 reward leading to the arrest of whoever was responsible for breaking into a Forest Service storage bunker on April and taking the emulsion-type explosives, detonating cord and explosive cast boosters.

Bray says the investigation continues.
