Winter Weather Freezing Flathead Roadways

By Beacon Staff

Winter storm weather is quickly moving into the Flathead, and many of the roadways are snow covered and icy, with multiple reports of vehicle accidents across the valley.

Drivers are advised to be careful on the slick roads, and exercise patience and caution in their vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service, the winter storm will likely make temperatures hover around freezing through Monday evening, with cold arctic air expected on Monday night. Travel conditions will likely deteriorate “for all area roadways in a likely flash freeze scenario through at least Tuesday morning.”

Blowing snow and sub-zero wind chill temperatures are likely near Marias Pass to the northern Flathead Valley, including Badrock Canyon, Monday night. Snow is expected to dissipate Monday night through Tuesday.
