The Finberg sisters were lights out and the top-ranked team in Montana played the part in dominating fashion, trouncing Polson 60-18 at the Northwestern A divisional basketball tournament at Glacier High School on Saturday. Tournament action restarted Saturday after being postponed Friday due to winter weather preventing the Frenchtown squads from traveling.
Junior guard Ciera Finberg sank four 3-pointers en route to 15 points and her sister Cydney, a freshman guard, tallied 14 points as the Wildkats cruised into the divisional title game on Sunday. Ellie Johnson scored nine points and Haley Belgarde chipped in eight for the Wildkats (18-1).
Polson struggled to stop its conference rival at every turn, while the Lady Pirates offense also froze up. Only four players scored, led by Jessica Bagnell, who had 11 points.
The Wildkats will play the winner of tonight’s 6 p.m. matchup between Frenchtown and Libby. Click here to view the revised tournament schedule.
The Polson girls play in the consolation game at 3 p.m. Sunday.
