Hungry Horse Woman Denies Shooting Boyfriend to Death

By Beacon Staff

A 55-year-old northwestern Montana woman has denied charges that she shot her boyfriend to death at their Hungry Horse residence on Valentine’s Day.

Pamela Ruth Haines pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide Thursday during a hearing in District Court in Kalispell. She is charged with shooting 71-year-old Thomas Eugene Edwards in the chest.

Charging documents say Haines called 911 on Feb. 14 and reported she shot her boyfriend during an argument. Edwards died at the residence.

Her attorney filed a notice indicating Haines would not deny shooting Edwards, but would argue the shooting was justified.

The couple had recently moved to Hungry Horse from California.

Haines remains jailed with her bond set at $500,000.
