Montana Women to Play in WNIT

By Beacon Staff

Members of the Montana women’s basketball team aren’t turning in their uniforms just yet.

The Lady Griz were invited to play in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament and will play host to Washington State (17-16) in a first-round game on Wednesday night. The game time hasn’t been announced.

Montana (22-10) hasn’t won a post-season game in the NCAA or WNIT since 1995.

Coach Robin Selvig says the team was excited to receive an at-large berth in the 64-team field.

The Lady Griz will be without point guard and second-leading scorer Torry Hill, who suffered a knee injury in the championship game of the Big Sky Conference tournament.

The winner of the Washington State-Montana game will play the winner of the Cal Poly-San Diego game in the second round.
