Kalispell Man Pleads Guilty to DUI Crash, 2 Died

By Beacon Staff

A Kalispell man has pleaded guilty to killing two men in a drunken driving crash last fall.

Joseph Leroy Powell pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence. He was charged after the Oct. 17 crash on U.S. Highway 93 south of Kalispell that killed 43-year-old Brian Delaney and Powell’s passenger, 43-year-old Patrick Moulton.

Powell did not have a plea agreement, leaving prosecutors free to ask for the maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Sentencing is set for May.
