Lodge at Whitefish Lake Seeking to Expand Marina

By Beacon Staff

The Lodge at Whitefish Lake and the Averill Family Trust are seeking a variance to add 18 additional boat slips and an amendment to extend the existing marina an additional 19.46 feet out into Whitefish Lake and increase the amount of constructed area below the high water mark.

The city’s planning board is holding a public hearing at its meeting in City Hall on Thursday, April 17 at 6 p.m. A public hearing during the city council meeting is slated for May 5.

Brian Averill has applied for an amendment to the existing planned unit development that was originally approved in 1990 when the Lodge was developed. The property has a marina featuring 85 boat slips, per the original limits in the PUD. Averill is seeking to expand to 103 slips after a recent acquisition that added lakefront property to the Lodge. Averill recently purchased 97.32 feet of lakeshore frontage that qualifies the site for nine additional boat slips and 1,047 square feet of additional construction area.
