Glacier Nationals Hockey Program Departs for Havre

By Beacon Staff

The Glacier Nationals junior hockey program is uprooting from Whitefish and moving to Havre after four seasons, the general manager announced last week.

Butch Kowalka, who founded the Nationals in 2011 as a Tier III Junior-A expansion program in the Northern Pacific Hockey League, said the team has signed a three-year contract with the Havre Youth Hockey Association, effective immediately.

The Nationals will join the North American Tier III Hockey League, one of nine USA Hockey-sanctioned junior leagues.

The Nationals were 19-28-1 last season after joining the AWHL.
