Nurture the Passion of Angling at Annual Fishing Fair

By Beacon Staff

A beloved annual tradition in the valley, the Flathead Fishing Fair at Snappy Sport Senter is Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event, which is sponsored by Snappy Sport Senter and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, is a great way to introduce youngsters to the excitement of angling.

This gathering has become a great way to teach boys and girls the skills and ethics of fishing, while nurturing a potential lifelong passion.

The annual Fishing Fair offers a kids derby for youth ages 12 and younger in Snappy’s Pond as well as fun and educational activities for all ages. Kids are welcome to bring their own fishing rods; some loaner fishing outfits and bait will be available along with fishing assistance.

The Fishing Fair also offers the opportunity to tie your own spinner or fly, practice fish identification, casting contests, a “Kids Korner” for little guy activities and there will be representatives from local fishing groups to provide tips on where-to and how-to fish in the Flathead for a variety of species.
