EXPLORE: Wildflower Walks at Lone Pine State Park

By Beacon Staff

Spring is in full bloom. If the weather cooperates, now is a great time to peel off the layers and venture outdoors. For a fun activity close to town, swing up to Lone Pine State Park near Kalispell where a weekly series of guided wildflower walks is taking place. Every Saturday from now until June 14, a ranger is leading hikers throughout the popular state park and talking about the changing blossoms and array of natural flowers that paint our local mountainsides. The guided walks touch on names and other information of local botany. The free hikes go at a leisurely pace and cover fewer than two miles, so all ages and abilities are welcome to take part in this fun, informational outdoor experience. The hikes begin at 11 a.m. and go until noon. For more information, contact park manager Amy Grout at 755-2706, ext. 3.
