Avery, Johnston Claim Junior Golf Titles

Teigan Avery won her second straight state junior golf championship

Teigan Avery of Kalispell led from start to finish and claimed her second consecutive state junior golf championship yesterday.

The Glacier High School standout shot a 5-over 77 on Tuesday and finished with a two-day score of 150 at the Laurel Golf Club, winning the 16-17 age division by eight strokes over Hannah Zwemke of Billings. She had the top overall score for girls in the tournament.

Libby’s Ryggs Johnston held on and won his 14-15 division after shooting a 3-over 75.

By placing in the top four overall, both Avery and Johnston qualified for the state’s junior America’s Cup team and Montana/Alberta Cup team.
