The Canyon

We spent several weeks on the road between Columbia Falls and Glacier National Park. Explore our interactive guide to the close-knit and unique communities we encountered along the way.

By Justin Franz

On an average day in July, more than 13,000 cars drive the stretch of U.S. Highway 2 between Columbia Falls and West Glacier, an area affectionately known to locals as “The Canyon.”

For the last few weeks, Flathead Beacon writer Justin Franz and photographer Greg Lindstrom have traveled up and down this stretch of road, meeting the locals and discovering the locales to bring you a unique multimedia story.
