Two people were sent to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 93 south of Kalispell.

The accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. near Fred’s Appliance and Gardner RV and forced southbound traffic to be re-routed onto the Highway 93 bypass.

According to Montana Highway Patrolman Jim Sanderson, a van was making a left hand turn out of the Fred’s Appliances parking lot to travel south when it collided with a red passenger car driving north. The two people in the van, a man and a woman, were sent to the hospital. It’s unclear how extensive their injuries were. The man in the red passenger car had minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

Sanderson said all three people were wearing their seatbelts.
