U.S. Sen. John Walsh has raised nearly $900,000 since mid-May as he seeks to fight off a challenge by U.S. Rep. Steve Daines in November’s election.

The Democrat’s campaign released the fundraising numbers Tuesday ahead of a July 15 Federal Election Commission deadline. Spokeswoman Lauren Passalacqua says the money raised since May 15 put the campaign at $1.25 million for the period from April 1 to June 30.

Walsh has been spending heavily, too. He reports more than $500,000 in expenditures since May 15.

That leaves him with about $713,000 as the campaign season ramps up.

Daines spokesman Brock Lowrence says the Bozeman Republican’s report for the second quarter is still being prepared.

Walsh, Daines and Libertarian Roger Roots are campaigning for the seat Walsh was appointed to in February.
