BOZEMAN — Bozeman High girls basketball coach Brad Rustan was hospitalized in a medically induced coma after suffering a head injury in a fall while on a fishing trip with his brother at Fort Peck Reservoir.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports Rustan was injured on June 29. He was first taken to a hospital in Jordan and then flown to St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, where his family says he was being treated in the intensive care unit.

Rustan has coached basketball at Bozeman High in some capacity in all but one season since 1986. He coached the girls from 1990-98 and returned to coaching the girls in 2008. He was an assistant for the Wichita State women for one year before returning to Bozeman High. He was an assistant to boys’ coach Mike Cole from 1999-2007 and assisted the girls the following year before returning as head coach.

The Bozeman girls have won four Class AA state championships with Rustan as head coach.
