HELENA — Republican Ryan Zinke has raised more money and spent more money since mid-May than his Democratic opponent John Lewis in the race for Montana’s lone U.S. House seat.

Zinke says he raised nearly $405,000 since May 15, while Lewis raised about $273,000.

The campaigns released the fundraising numbers Monday ahead of a July 15 Federal Election Commission deadline.

Zinke campaign spokeswoman Shelby DeMars says the campaign has spent about $458,000 since May 15. The Lewis campaign says it has spent about $170,000 during the same period.

The Lewis campaign has about $623,000 on hand, while Zinke’s campaign has about $97,000 in the bank.

Zinke, Lewis and Libertarian Mike Fellows are campaigning for the seat Republican Rep. Steve Daines is leaving to run for Senate.
