A week after Kalispell hosted the 12 and under regional baseball tournament, it’s Whitefish and Columbia Falls’ turn. Glacier Babe Ruth is hosting the 14 and under Regional Baseball Tournament this week.
Games will be played at the Sapa Johnsrud Field in Columbia Falls and Whitefish’s Memorial Field. Teams from all over the Pacific Northwest are vying for a berth at the Babe Ruth World Series in Ocala, Forida on Aug. 13.
The Flathead Valley has two teams playing among the top 10.
Host Glacier is playing in the American Division and opens up pool play action against South Washington at noon, July 30 in Columbia Falls and then plays North Oregon at 6 p.m., in Whitefish. Kalispell’s team is playing in the National Division and opens up against Idaho at noon in Whitefish and then takes on Wyoming at 6 p.m. in Columbia Falls.
Kalispell plays Washington at 7 p.m. Thursday in Whitefish and Glacier takes on Alberta at 7 p.m. in Columbia Falls. Then on Friday, Glacier plays British Columbia at 5 p.m. in Whitefish while Kalispell takes on South Oregon at 5 p.m. in Columbia Falls.
There are five teams in each division and the top two teams from each division after pool play advance to Saturday’s championship bracket. The top team from the National Division plays the No. 2 seed from the American Division at noon in Columbia Falls. The No. 1 American Division team plays the No. 2 National Division team at 3 p.m. and then the championship is at 7 p.m.
At last week’s 12 and under tournament in Kalispell, Whitefish’s all star team went 3-1 in pool play and Polson went 2-2.
