A 55-year-old Kila man was killed Tuesday night after an automobile accident west of Kalispell on U.S. Highway 2, the Flathead County Sheriff announced Wednesday morning.

Fredrick Clinton Ellis was in one of two vehicles involved in the wreck at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and Ashley Lake Road, about 15 miles west of Kalispell. Ellis was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Montana Highway Patrol says Ellis was starting to turn left off the highway when his vehicle was struck by a pickup truck traveling in the same direction in a no-passing zone.

The driver of the second vehicle and two passengers had minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol.
