Bobcats, Grizzlies Open Fall Football Drills

Preseason polls picked Eastern Washington to win the Big Sky Conference, followed by Montana and Montana State

The Montana State and Montana football teams open fall drills this week in preparation for season-opening games just over three weeks away.

The Bobcats hit the field on Monday and open their season on Aug. 30 at Arkansas State while the Grizzlies begin preparing Tuesday for their Aug. 30 season opener at Wyoming.

Montana State coach Rob Ash will be deciding who will start at quarterback after the graduation of four-year starter DeNarius McGhee. Ash tells the Great Falls Tribune he probably won’t decide from among Jake Bleskin, Dakota Prokop and Quinn McQueary for at least two weeks.

Montana coach Mick Delaney is looking to build on last year’s 10-3 mark that included a home game in the FCS playoffs. Key returners for the Griz include quarterback Jordan Johnson and defensive end Zach Wagenmann.
