Colorado Gulch Fire burning north of Missoula forces evacuation of two homes

By Associated Press

MISSOULA – A fire burning north of Missoula has led to the evacuation of at least two homes.

The fire is burning above 12 homes on Colorado Gulch Road near Grant Creek.

The Missoulian reports at least two residences were evacuated on Monday. KECI-TV reports the fire is burning in grass and scattered timber on private land.

The Helena Hotshots, along with state and U.S. Forest Service crews are responding to the fire. The response includes helicopters and an air tanker.

The cause of the fire is not immediately known.

There are at least seven small wildfires burning across the state after a slow start to the season due to a cool and wet spring.
