Glacier Twins Bow Out of Regional Tournament with 2-2 Record

Twins cap historic season one game shy of championship game

The Glacier Twins’ historic season came to an end at the American Legion Northwest Class A Regional Tournament in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Twins lost a hard-fought game against the Cody Cubs (Wyoming), 3-1, Monday in the semifinals. Twins starter AJ Wetsch went pitch for pitch with Cubs starter John Beaudrie, and both pitchers went the distance. Wetsch allowed just four hits, one earned run and no walks through eight innings. The Cubs broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth.

Whitefish finished its season 39-22 overall. The Cubs advanced to the championship game against the Pocatello Razorbacks of Idaho.

Glacier went 2-2 at the regional. The Whitefish squad defeated the North Medford Mavericks (Oregon) 13-11 to advance to within one game of the title game. The Twins scored six runs in the seventh inning to rally past the Mavericks. Colton Gove, Jayce Fagerland, Vincent Smith and Kyler Howke each had two RBI apiece. Gove had two triples. Colten Parker earned the victory from the mound after pitching three scoreless innings.

The Pocatello Razorbacks beat Whitefish 15-4 the day before. Glacier opened the tournament with a 8-4 victory over Fairbanks (Alaska).
