O’Brien’s Liquor & Wine in Columbia Falls will be moving to a larger building this fall, owners O’Brien and Melanie Byrd announced this week after they completed the site purchase from Western Building Center. The move comes as the couple celebrates ten years of owning and operating the liquor store.
The store will move from its current location, next to Rex’s Pawn, to a 5,000-square-foot building on the corner of U.S. Highway 2 and First Avenue West near downtown Columbia Falls.
“In these ten years of business, not a day has gone by that we weren’t overwhelmingly grateful to this wonderful community, not only for their patronage, but for their support and friendship,” O’Brien said. “Now, it is exciting to own our own space and be able to offer our customers even better selection and more convenience.”
O’Brien said the new site will offer more parking, ample warehouse space for sale items and room to develop and expand the products it offers. He also said that there is additional space that could be leased to other businesses.
“We certainly don’t need all that space for the liquor store,” O’Brien said. “We’d love to have a fun retailer join us in this prime spot. Since we’re members of the Chamber of Commerce, I’m sure we’ll have some great conversations about who else might go into that space.”
The move is expected to take place soon and the owners hope to have the new store open by Oct. 31.
