Man Denies Knocking Girlfriend Unconscious, Dragging Her

Calvin Steve Spotted Eagle appeared in Flathead County District Court on Sept. 11

A 39-year-old Browning man has denied he knocked his girlfriend unconscious during an argument in Kalispell last month.

Calvin Steve Spotted Eagle has been charged with felony partner or family member assault. He pleaded not guilty in Flathead County District Court on Sept. 11.

According to court documents, Spotted Eagle and his girlfriend of five years were having an argument while walking near downtown Kalispell. As the couple crossed Washington Street, Spotted Eagle began to hit the woman and then punched her in the head, knocking her to the ground. The woman hit her head on the pavement and was knocked unconscious. Spotted Eagle then dragged the woman to the side of the road. The woman was later taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Spotted Eagle remains in jail on $30,000 bail.

If convicted, Spotted Eagle could face up to five years in prison and a fine of $50,000. Spotted Eagle is set to go to trial in November.
