Friends of the Library Book Sale Sept. 19-21

Book lovers can support the library and grow their personal libraries at the same time

By Beacon staff

For book lovers, one of the best events of the year is coming up.

The Friends of the Library annual Book Sale will be Sept. 19, 20, and 21 at the Kalispell Center Mall near JC Penney.

Hours of the sale are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

On Sunday books will sell for $2 a bag.

Last year, the sale made about $12,000 for the organization, which supports the local ImagineIF libraries. The money was used for:

  • Homebound Service
  • The ImagineIF newsletter
  • Literacy Volunteers
  • “Book Page,” a monthly magazine
  • Children’s summer programs
  • Downloadable ebooks and audiobooks
  • Loud at the Library (in partnership with the Foundation)

Friends of the Library is a volunteer organization that raises funds by selling thousands of sorted used books in good condition at the annual Book Sale in September. Recent projects include Homebound Service Program, donation to ImagineIf Libraries, Dr Seuss Birthday Party and Staff Appreciation Brunch.  Proceeds from the book sale benefit ImagineIf Libraries in Kalispell, Bigfork, Columbia Falls, and Marion.
