FWP Seeking Comment on Proposed Pine Grove Pond Expansion

FWP looks to add 4.26 acres of land to popular fishing access site

By Beacon Staff

A proposal to acquire 4.26 acres of land near Whitefish River for the Pine Grove Pond fishing access site is open for public comment.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has published a draft environmental assessment detailing the proposal for acquiring the land and adding more access to the river. The new land would provide a buffer between the popular fishing access site and the neighboring private land. It would also add nearly 750 feet of river shore to the site.

FWP also proposes to accept the donation of 0.33 acres of land adjacent to the existing parking area and construct a parking area to provide additional parking and to reduce vehicle congestion along the access road.

The draft is out for a 15-day public review through Oct. 17.

The draft is available at FWP headquarters, 490 N. Meridian, Kalispell; Montana State Library, 1515 E 6th Ave., Helena; for viewing at Flathead County Libraries; and the FWP web site at fwp.mt.gov under Public Notices.
