HELENA – A 14-year-old girl accused of trying to suffocate her infant daughter with a pillow has been charged with attempted deliberate homicide.
The Independent Record reports police were called to a home in Helena that caters to young mothers Friday night after a shift supervisor reportedly saw the girl at the foot of the bed smothering the infant with the pillow and a plastic bag.
Investigators say the supervisor told them the infant’s face was blue and soon began gasping for air.
The mother was examined at a hospital before being transferred to a juvenile detention facility. The infant also was examined and placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.
