Prep Football Roundup: Bigfork Drops Deer Lodge in Playoff Opener

Whitefish to host Miles City in second round of Class A playoffs

Bigfork cruised past Deer Lodge 44-7 in the first round of the Class B playoffs in Bigfork on Nov. 1.

Quarterback Josh Sandry combined for four touchdowns, Vinny Quirk added two TDs and the Vikings piled up 361 yards of offense. Jonathan Landon and Matthew Farrier each added a touchdown apiece.

The Vikings (8-1) host Malta (6-3) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

In other Class B playoff action, Townsend hosts Baker, Glasgow hosts Conrad and Huntley Project hosts Fairfield.

Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashau defeated Eureka 54-7.

Hamilton eliminated Columbia Falls 27-21 in the first round of the Class A playoffs in Columbia Falls last Saturday.

The Broncs jumped ahead 20-14 at halftime and limited the Wildcats’ high-powered offense, keeping Columbia Falls out of the end zone all but once in the second half. Sean Hoerner caught an 8-yard TD pass from Dakota Bridwell with 1:34 left in the fourth quarter. Ike Schweikert scored the first TD for the Wildcats on a 1-yard run in the first quarter. Stephen Lindsey added another TD in the second quarter on a 32-yard run.

Whitefish (7-2) hosts Miles City (8-2) in the second round of the Class A playoffs at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The Bulldogs had a first-round bye after winning the Northwestern A conference.

Miles City edged Havre 48-47 in overtime in the first round. In other Class A action, Laurel travels to Butte Central, Belgrade hosts Dillon and Billings Central hosts Hamilton.

In Class AA, Glacier defeated Flathead 27-7 in the regular-season finale. The Wolfpack (10-0) achieved their first undefeated regular season and earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Class AA playoffs. Glacier hosts Billings West at 7 p.m. on Friday.
