The Kalispell Fire Department extinguished a house fire early on Nov. 5, and determined that an electrical issue had apparently started the blaze.
According to fire chief Dave Dedman, firefighters got the call about the fire at about 6:50 a.m. on Wednesday. Upon arriving at the residence, located at 307 Harrison Blvd., crews could see light smoke coming from the home.
Further investigation showed an active electrical fire located on the main fire panel and adjacent areas, and it was extending to the floor joist.
The structure fire was extinguished, and crews kept the electrical fire under control until Flathead Electric Cooperative could disconnect the house’s power.
There were no injuries, and Dedman estimates the damage to the house at $25,000. The preliminary investigation concluded that the fire was caused by electrical malfunction.
The Evergreen Fire Department and West Valley Fire Department were also providing assistance at the fire.
