The Flathead Bravettes volleyball team rallied back to defeat Helena in a Class AA playoff match on Thursday and qualify for the state tournament in Bozeman next week.
The Bravettes dropped their first two sets — 22-25, 20-25 — before winning three straight, 25-21, 25-15, 15-11 to clinch their 12th consecutive trip to the state tournament.
Lizzie Sherwood led the team in kills with 18, followed by Tiana Johnson, who had 16. Jessica Simmons had 31 of Flathead’s 53 assists. Johnson had three blocks. Jordan Schultz had five of 12 aces.
Flathead, the No. 3 seed from the West, will take on Billings Senior, the No. 2 seed from the East and third-ranked team in the state, at 4 p.m., Nov. 13 at the state tournament in Bozeman.
Glacier, the top-ranked team in the state and the No. 1 seed from the West, plays No. 4 seed Billings West at 2 p.m., Nov. 13.
Second-ranked Bozeman will play Missoula Sentinel at 10 a.m. and Billings Skyview will play fourth-ranked Helena Capital at noon.
