Two Survive Plane Crash Near Darby

The crash happened near a private airstrip about two miles south of Darby

MISSOULA — A small airplane crashed near a private airstrip in western Montana on Friday morning. Both men on board were taken to the hospital in Hamilton for treatment of their injuries.

Darby Marshal Larry Rose said both people on board the Aeronca Champ survived the impact. He did not know their names.

The crash happened near a private airstrip about two miles south of Darby.

Darby Volunteer Fire Chief Mark Snavely said both men had to be cut out of the wreckage, but they were talking to emergency personnel and their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
