Bullock Vows to Work with GOP Legislature

Republican says he'll cooperate with Republican majorities

By Tristan Scott

Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock is vowing to work with the state House and Senate during the upcoming 2015 legislative session after last week’s elections saw Republicans retain control of both chambers.

Republicans held a 29-21 majority in the Senate and a 61-39 majority in the House going into the Nov. 4 elections. They’ve held on to the same number of seats in the Senate with Democrats gaining two seats in the House.

Bullock says his priorities include expanding Medicaid to about 70,000 of the working poor in the state, reforming elections to end money contributed in secret and investing in pre-kindergarten education.

He says he’s ready to go a long way to work with legislators if they really want to get things done.
