Tasia Gates has been named the new head coach of the Flathead High School softball program, the school announced last week.
A selection committee chose Gates to replace Ashley Fusaro, who stepped down after three seasons as head coach. The Bravettes were 5-15 last season.
Gates has served as an assistant coach in the program for the past five years. She’s a former standout shortstop for the Bravettes who graduated in 2004 and was second-team all state her senior season.
“Tasia has an incredible desire to move the Flathead softball program forward. She has a vision to better the program,” Flathead activities director Bryce Wilson said.
Wilson was part of the committee that chose Gates out of three finalists. The other committee members were Flathead principal Peter Fusaro, girls cross country coach Jesse Rumsey, teacher and former Bravette Lynette Johnson and Joe Matulevich, a softball advocate and former Bravette parent.
