Microdistillery and Tasting Room Proposed in Whitefish

Planning Board to review request for permit at Nov. 20 meeting

By Beacon Staff

Plans for a new microdistillery and tasting room have been proposed in a vacant warehouse on Baker Avenue in Whitefish.

The Whitefish Planning Board will review an application from Whitefish Handcrafted Spirits for a conditional use permit to operate the distillery at a Nov. 20 public hearing.

The proposed project is located at 1820 Baker Ave. in an existing warehouse. The project would be located on the front portion of the building.

Board members will forward a recommendation to the Whitefish City Council for a subsequent public hearing and final action on Dec. 1.

Eric Mulcahy of Sands Surveying requested the conditional use permit on behalf of Whitefish Handcrafted Spirits.

Mulcahy is proposing to remodel the existing building, including an exterior facelift. He also proposed to use the existing parking area for the building and develop a one-way loop driveway that will connect to the adjacent lot to the south.

There is an existing shipping/receiving area that would be incorporated into the project.

The distillery would operate under State Liquor Board requirements, which limit hours of operation and the maximum number of ounces permitted per customer.
