Morley Wins Foot Locker West Regional Championship

Morley sisters, Hill qualify for Foot Locker nationals in San Diego

Makena Morley won the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships West Regional in California on Saturday, qualifying for next weekend’s national title race along with two other Flathead Valley runners.

The Bigfork senior won the regional 5K championship for the second year in a row, crossing the finish line in 17:34 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California.

Glacier freshman Annie Hill, the Class AA state champion, placed fourth, 18:11, and Bigfork freshman Bryn Morley earned sixth, 18:17.

By finishing in the top 10, the three girls qualified for next week’s Foot Locker nationals in San Diego.

Makena Morley, the four-time Class B state champion and state record holder, placed eighth at nationals a year ago.

The West Regional featured the top runners from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

In the boys race, Glacier’s Brock Sandry placed 76th, 16:51. Bigfork’s Logan Morley placed 108th, 17:04. Glacier’s Logan Harmon finished 134th, 17:21. Flathead’s Jake Perrin earned 136th, 17:21. Glacier’s Kade McCutcheon finished 169th, 17:37
