Maggie Doherty with the Kalispell Brewing Co. has been named a leader of Gov. Steve Bullock’s Main Street Montana Project.

Bullock selected Doherty to serve on the Small Business and Downtown Key Industry Network, which features business leaders from across Montana who are tasked with creating goals, objectives and projects that could grow commerce across the state.

Doherty and her husband, Cole Schneider, opened the Kalispell Brewing Co. in downtown in May 2014. The new brewery has emerged as a success story in a downtown yearning for economic momentum and at a time of renewed emphasis within the city center.

Doherty and the other members of the governor’s group met in Helena recently to begin crafting ways to help small business and downtowns in Montana thrive.

The goal of the Main Street Montana Project is to create a dynamic private-public partnership to build and implement a business plan for Montana by Montanans. More than 3,000 Montanans provided input through participating in a series of regional roundtable meetings and completing surveys.

The Main Street Montana Project plan was released in early April 2014.

Doherty was also recently elected to the board of directors for the Montana Brewers Association.
