BOZEMAN — A former high school girls’ basketball coach who is charged with raping two of his players has been returned to jail.

Gallatin County sheriff’s deputies arrested 22-year-old Kyle Cokot on Wednesday on a warrant that alleged he contacted one of the victims and numerous other girls in violation of the terms of his release on bond.

Cokot was arrested in August and has pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual intercourse without consent. He was fired as basketball coach at Lone Peak High in Big Sky.

Court records say one of the girls reported that soon after Cokot was released from jail last fall he started calling her and threatened to harm himself. Detectives found 33 calls in January alone. Other girls also reported talking with Cokot on the phone.

Cokot’s trial is scheduled to start in June.
