POLSON — Police in Polson say community effort led to the arrest of one of two men suspected of stealing an automated teller machine.

Police Chief Wade Nash tells KERR-AM that a man was taken into custody Thursday in Flathead County on suspicion of stealing the machine from Community Bank early on Jan. 30.

Nash declined to release the man’s name or the amount stolen.

He says banks provided police with surveillance video that showed the suspects casing other banks before the theft.

A witness also reported seeing a green Chevrolet pickup in the area at the time of the theft. Nash says the pickup had been reported stolen and helped lead authorities to the suspect.

Nash says the two suspects in the ATM theft may have been involved in other recent high profile crimes in the area.
