HAVRE — The Rocky Boy boys’ basketball team has forfeited all nine of its wins this season for using an ineligible player.
Superintendent Void St. Pierre tells the Havre Daily News that the school’s athletic department found that an athlete had violated the semester rule, which allows student-athletes to participate in MHSA contests for eight consecutive semesters after entering ninth grade. The school reported the violation to the Montana High School Association.
The Northern Stars fall from a 9-5 overall mark and a 5-2 record in District 1B to 0-7 in conference and 0-14 overall. The team is still eligible to play the remainder of its season and in the conference tournament.
