A company called SAR Charities has been reaching out to local residents and soliciting donations for area search and rescue operations. But according to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry it is a scam and residents should be leery of anyone calling them about donations.
“Flathead County Search and Rescue groups have no affiliation with this group and we do not receive funds from this fundraising activity,” Curry said in a press release. “Flathead County Search and Rescue groups do not solicit funds by phone.”
Similar scams have been reported recently in Great Falls, Butte and Bozeman.
