Hampered by the lowest snowpack in Western Montana, Turner Mountain Ski Area will remain closed for the rest of the season.
The ski area near Libby announced the full closure on March 6, saying on its website, “You win Mother Nature. See you next season!”
The mountain, which features a single lift and is operated by volunteers, has struggled with snow all winter. It opened late and closed in early February due to meager snowfall and unseasonably warm weather.
Snowpack in the Kootenai River Basin is at 54 percent of normal, according to the National Resources Conservation Service.
