Dummy Derby and Pond Skim Relocated to Chair 3

Signature events moved due to low snow conditions at Whitefish Mountain Resort

By Tristan Scott

Two of Whitefish Mountain Resort’s signature spring events on Big Mountain, the Dummy Derby and the Pond Skim, scheduled for April 4 and April 11, respectively, will be relocated to the Armory Terrain Park/Chair 3 area this year due to low snow conditions.

The Mountain Brewfest, also scheduled for April 4, will remain in the Upper Village; however, it will move closer to the Dummy Derby event.

The Dummy Derby will begin this Saturday, April 4 at 4:30 p.m. Participants are asked to drop off their dummy at the end of Gelande Street in the West Village area near Chair 3. There will be signs to help direct participants to the drop-off area.

The Upper Village will be closed to traffic above the roundabout to accommodate Winter Brewfest. Parking for spectators will be available in all other lots, carpooling or taking the S.N.O.W. Bus is recommended.

The Pond Skim is scheduled for Saturday, April 11 at 2:30 p.m. More details may become available closer to the event. For the latest information visit www.skiwhitefish.com. This is the resort’s most well-attended event, and carpooling or riding the S.N.O.W. Bus is highly recommended.

Both events are spectator friendly and free to attend.

To access the new event venue by ski/snowboard: From the summit Big Ravine to Interstate to Hellroaring to Home Again, or from the Base Area take the shuttle to the Upper Village. On foot: Use the stairs in between Kintla Lodge and Morning Eagle Lodge and walk up the slope.
