A suspicious package delivered to the federal building in downtown Helena led to the evacuation of that building along with the federal courthouse and the state liquor warehouse.
Helena Police Capt. Curt Stinson says the package arrived via U.S. Mail on Monday morning at the Sen. Max Sieben Baucus Federal Building.
Stinson says an X-ray indicated the package may contain hazardous materials and officials called 911.
Officials also evacuated the adjacent Paul G. Hatfield Courthouse and the state liquor warehouse.
A police dog indicated there was something suspicious in the package.
A member of the Lewis and Clark County explosives team removed the package from the federal building. KTVH-TV reports the package was taken to an undisclosed location, where it was to be opened by a robot.
