MISSOULA — A Thompson Falls man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was convicted of neglecting an elderly man with dementia and illegally gaining ownership of his money and property.

The Missoulian reports that Daryl Enos Strang will serve 10 years on a felony count of physical abuse or neglect of an older person with a developmental disability. The judge also ordered Strang to pay more than $145,000 in restitution. Strang was found guilty on Jan. 15.

Prosecutors alleged Strang obtained power of attorney from Ben Poat and used it to take Poat’s 103-acre ranch, two Jeeps and a limited edition Harley Davidson motorcycle and drain $142,000 from his bank account over the course of a year.
